About Yentice
Yentice is a free word finder for Wordfeud players, and I run it as an independent site.
Why I built this site
The rack RETAINS forms 213 valid words in my word list. Most players, I think, spot only a few of them in the middle of a game, so I built a tool that shows the rest.
A plain list teaches little, though. That is why the tool also scores each word, filters the results, and links to a strategy guide. You can see why one play beats another and use that idea in your next game.
Who this site is for
I had three kinds of players in mind.
- Casual players who want help choosing between two plays.
- New players who want to learn short words and scoring.
- Regular players who want to review a game and find the move they missed.
How I keep the tool accurate
Three habits keep the site accurate.
- I check every rule, tile value, and tile count against its source.
- I run sample racks through the tool and work out the scores by hand.
- I read each page twice and add a date before it goes live.
The editorial policy lays out each step.
What the tool cannot do
The tool does not see your board, so it cannot add double or triple squares to a score. It also relies on an English word list that can differ from the dictionary inside the game, so Wordfeud may reject a suggestion. The disclaimer covers both limits in full.
Where the data comes from
Tile values, tile counts, and bonus rules come from the official Wordfeud help page. The words come from SCOWL, a spell-checker project maintained by Kevin Atkinson. If you want the legal details, read the license and credits.
Independence
Wordfeud and its makers have no part in this site. They have not reviewed it, and they do not endorse it.
